In spite of the restrictions enforced in view of Covid-19 pandemic, illegal flesh trade seems to be thriving in the Silver City of Cuttack with the Commissionerate Police busting two such illicit joints on Saturday.
While a sex racket operating at a hotel for a long time was busted in Malgodown police limits, the other racket was busted in Shankarpur Das Sahi under Badambadi police limits.
In Malgodown, a police team led by the local inspector-in-charge and ACP raided Ambika Residency hotel and busted the racket. Some objectionable items were seized while a woman pimp and two hotel staff were arrested during the raid.

“On the basis of reliable information regarding the conduct of illegal flesh trade in a hotel named Ambika Residency, a raid was conducted by our police team. When the police team inquired about the occupant in Room No 205, the hotel staff said the room was empty. The hotel register also did not have any entry of the customer,” said a police official associated with the raid.
“However, when the team entered the room, they found a girl and a customer. Several objectionable items were found in the room. A pimp or kingpin who engaged the girl in the illicit trade was also present outside the room,” the officer added.
He said the pimp who hails from Bhubaneswar, the customer and the hotel manager have been detained. The girl has been rescued. “Further investigation is underway to ascertain if such rackets are going on in any other place in the city,” he added.
In Shankarpur Das Sahi, the sex racket was running from a house for a long time. Though raids were carried out earlier, no arrests could be made. During today’s raid, the kingpin has been arrested and two girls were rescued, said sources.
