Bhubaneswar: Critically ill Abhisek Mohapatra of Basudevpur of Bhadrak is all set to be shifted to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar through an air ambulance for advance ECMO treatment.
An ECMO machine has already been fitted in his body. The air ambulance will arrive at Bhubaneswar airport at around 10.30 am today. All the technical processes have reached final stage. He will be escorted by a team of doctors, Abhisek’s friend Parthasarathi Patnaik told OTV.
A huge amount for the treatment of Abhisek is required. But, we want to start the initial treatment with the funds available with us as his condition is deteriorating Patnaik added and appealed to NGOs and government to help for the treatment of Abhisek.

Earlier, the kin of the patient had planned to shift him by road. But, doctors warned them of higher complication due to which he will be airlifted today.
“In order to save money, we had planned to take him by road. But, doctors advised us to prefer the air route due to his seriousness. So, we don’t want to take any risk. We have shortage of money for such a costly treatment but can start the initial treatment. I request the people of Odisha and the government to help me save my husband’s life,” said Mousumi Mohanty, wife of the patient.

It is worth mentioning that Abhisek had married only a month ago. A few days after his marriage, he was found infected with Covid-19 and was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after his health condition started deteriorating.
