Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Western Railway recently invited applications from interested and eligible candidates for various Group C posts in sports quota. Candidates now need to brace up as the last date to apply for as many as 21 posts is today, September 3 (10 PM).
"Applications are invited ONLINE from eligible sportspersons for filling up of 21 (Twenty-One) Group C Posts in the following discipline against Sports Quota through Open Advertisement for the year 2021-2022 over Western Railway. There is no reservation for SC, ST and OBC," read official notice.

Age Limit (as on 01/01/2022)
The minimum age limit to apply is 18 years while the maximum is 25 years- a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02/01/1997 and not later than 01/01/2004.
While no age Relaxation (upper or lower) shall be permissible, 10th Std / Matriculation / Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate/ Marksheet indicating Date of Birth. Or School Leaving Certificate indicating Date of Birth will be accepted as documentary proof of Date of Birth.

Details of Sports Achievements:
(a) Only those sportspersons who have acquired the following sports achievement eligibility norms in the championship from 01/04/2019 to 28/07/2021 and are active, will be eligible to apply for appointment against the above posts under Sports Quota.
(b) For the validity of sports achievement, the concluding day of the championship/event shall be taken into account.
(c) The specific position played in the particular discipline if applicable should be mentioned in the ONLINE Application without fail. `
Selection Procedure:
i. The recruitment will be based on trials & assessment of sports achievements, Educational Qualification. The candidates, who are found FIT in trials, only will be considered for the next stage.
ii. Trial: Trials of the candidates shall be conducted by Trial Committee to assess their sports performance and suitability for Railway team as well as Indian Railway’s team. Trial Committee shall give the recommendations in terms of FIT or NOT FIT for consideration for the next stage.
After Trial, only FIT candidates shall be considered for next stage by Recruitment Committee. Recruitment Committee shall award 60 marks for sports achievements and educational qualification.
The offer of appointment shall be given purely on the basis of merit. In case, more than one sportsperson secure the same marks, preference will be given to younger candidate to decide the merit.
The shortlisted candidates would be selected for employment only if they are found FIT as per the standards of the Western Railway Sports Association Team, read the official notification.
