Woh Toh Hai Albela on Star Bharat has made a surprising entry on the number one spot of the TRP ranking. The low profile show which stars big names like Shaheer Sheikh and Jijaji Chhat Per Hai fame Hiba Nawab started airing in the mid of March this year and within just a few months has toppled the superhit Star Plus serial Anupamaa which has been enjoying the numero uno spot for over a year now.
The top 10 in the list also includes other popular serials that have at times been a part of the number one position including Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Kumkum Bhagya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and Ghum Hai Kisike Pyaar Mein. Interestingly, both Anupamaa and Woh Toh Hai Albela are produced by Rajan Shahi, so it is a win-win situation for the producer.
The story of WTHA is simple and as usual, is full of drama that has always been a part of regular Indian film soaps. Two families who had good relations suddenly turned enemies and then things take a U-turn when their children fall in love with each other and want to marry. Shaheer Sheikh has been one of the major attractions and has done some fabulous jobs in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, Pavitra Rishta 2, and as Arjun in Mahabharata.
His music video with Hina Khan was also loved a lot by his followers. On the other hand, Hiba Nawab reached every household in India with her mischievous portrayal of Ilaichi in Jijaji Chhat Per Hai. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continues to be in the top 10 even after completing almost 15 years on television which is a big feat.
Anupamaa on the other hand has been finding it difficult to regain its number one spot because viewers are now attracted to new shows and fresh content.
