Malaika Arora, Jr NTR
Malaika Arora’s “Munni Badnam Hui” was one of the biggest superhits of 2010 and to date is one of the hot favourite item numbers from Bollywood. Back in the days when the song was a big hit, it was used by Zandu Balm to promote the product albeit with a twist. And since roping in Salman Khan to dance with Malaika would have been over budget, in those days they hired South Indian young star Jr NTR.
Most of the Bollywood fans could not recall his face as in those days the South India versus Bollywood crossovers were restricted to remakes and a very handful of actors or directors working in South or Bollywood. In that sense, the face of Jr. NTR was not much identified by the general audience when the commercial was streamed on television. However, it was more liked in South Indian languages where people could identify Jr NTR.
Cut to 2024, and now everyone knows who Jr NTR is, thanks to SS Rajamouli ’s magnum opus RRR. Tarak played the role of Komaram Bheem in RRR which was highly appreciated by Indians as well as the global audience. So when the same Zandu Balm commercial of Malaika Arora and Jr NTR went viral recently, Bollywood fans could not imagine their mighty Komaram Bheem doing such an advertisement.
Well, that speaks of the versatility of the Southern superstar. Work-wise RRR has opened Bollywood doors for Tarak and he will be seen soon as the lead antagonist opposite Hrithik Roshan in YRF’s War 2. He also has Devara: Part 1 gearing up for release. Bankrolled by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and team, the movie has Janhvi Kapoor playing the female lead.
The first few songs from the movie have already hit the web and received mixed reactions. Devara: Part 1 is expected to launch the career of Jr NTR in Bollywood and Janhvi Kapoor in the Southern film industry.
