Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna
Decades earlier watching interviews of superstars on television was very rare. Big stars like Rajesh Khanna or Amitabh Bachchan were a huge thing and it was very rare to see them giving interviews. But whenever they did come on television or gave interviews they were candid, open, and interesting. While the answers of today’s stars and actors are predictable, calculated, and diplomatic, the interviews by yesteryear stars held a grain of truth that otherwise is lacking in what we see in today’s podcasts.
A couple of such rare interviews recently went viral on the web. In one of the interviews, Rajesh Khanna can be seen discussing the art of lip-synching songs which in itself is an art. The interview seems to be for a foreign platform in which the first Indian superstar is asked, “When you are doing this miming business to somebody else’s singing do you sing at all or do you just move your mouth?”
In reply, Kaka said, “I do. I sing with the playback.” When asked, “Does it work out well with the finished result actually? Does it look as though it’s you do you think?” the Aradhana actor said, “Because this is one of those playback singers I mean you hear the playback singer and you feel that it is me who is singing. More or less because there is a lot of similarity between his voice and my voice. The only thing is he can sing and I can’t.”
The actors of the past were just so much more well spoken than the ones we have today. You just don’t see this level of eloquence anymore

Rajesh Khanna also said that his fans know that he is not singing the song on the screen and that someone else is singing in the background but it is accepted easily.
Amitabh Bachchan had to share his details, suggest a name for a dog
In yet another interview, the superstar of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan shared his physical statistics and personal details for a show abroad. Big B can be heard saying, “I was born on the 11th of October nineteen hundred and forty-two. It’s a Libra. The time was 3 pm. That’s the afternoon. My height is six feet two inches and my weight is a little over 82 kilograms. The shoe size is nine. The waist is 34 inches and I like to shop at New Barns Street.”
A card from a fan called Samantha Gill from Slough read, “I have seen your dogs and they are lovely. What are their names I want to name my dog and cannot think of one. Can you suggest a name?” Those were some weird questions and details that fans asked during the 80s when this interview was conducted. In reply, Amitabh Bachchan revealed the names of his three dogs and also told the fan to name her dog Pisti if it's small, and if it is a large one you can call it Gabbar Singh.
