Vijayendra Prasad, the renowned Southern film writer and father of SS Rajamouli shared an update on his son’s upcoming ventures. In an interview, the Baahubali writer said that Rajamouli is planning a sequel for RRR which may or may not be helmed by him.
Albeit, it will be produced under the supervision of Rajamouli. The tweet has come as a big and happy surprise for Rajamouli fans who had always wanted the famous director to come up with a sequel after RRR became such a worldwide hit and also won an Academy Award this year.
The movie has undoubtedly become quite a rage across the world and certainly deserves a sequel. Now, Vijayendra Prasad has not made it clear who will replace Rajamouli as the director if at all he thinks of bringing in someone else in the franchise.
However, the Bajrangi Bhaijan screenwriter said that once he completes work on his current assignment, Rajamouli will start working on his ambitious project that is based on the biggest-ever Indian epic- Mahabharatam.
The sequel will feature the lead stars from the first movie, Ram Charan and Jr NTR, and will be made as per Hollywood standards. It is quite possible that a Hollywood producer will be roped in to bankroll the big-budget project.
According to Vijayendra Prasad, currently, Rajamouli ’s focus is on the movie that he is directing with Mahesh Babu in the lead. The film is inspired by Indiana Jones and will be on a much bigger scale than RRR. Only after completing this film, Rajamouli will start working on Mahabharatam, he said.
Earlier during an interview, Rajamouli had said that if he decides to make a movie on the biggest Indian epic, it will be a 10-series franchise.
