Reports have been abuzz for a couple of days now that Superstar Salman Khan will be taking over the hosting baton of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati: Season 17 from Megastar Amitabh Bachchan. However, KBC's director Arun Sheshkumar recently dismissed the reports. The director also confirmed that as it's the 25th anniversary of the quiz-based game show, the makers are putting in efforts to make it grander.

Salman Khan Not Replacing Amitabh Bachchan
Notably, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Kaun Banega Crorepati are synonymous with each other, since its inception in 2000. Bachchan has been hosting the show for over the last 25 years, except for the third season. However, earlier in March, when BigB expressed that he has been struggling with forgetfulness and making mistakes on sets due to old age, speculations were rife that the legendary actor might step down from hosting KBC's next season. Even the audience picked Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, MS Dhoni and Anil Kapoor as top choices for the new host of KBC, during a research. However, ending all speculations, BigB returned with the new season.
Well, recently, rumours once again started circulating that Salman Khan is in advanced talks with the makers of KBC.
However, Sheshkumar quashed the rumours during an interview with Mid-Day. He was quoted as saying, "Whatever you have heard about Salman replacing Mr Bachchan is completely incorrect. Mr Bachchan is hosting the 17th season of KBC. It's the 25th year of the show, and we are putting in efforts to make it grander.
Further, the report stated that the Paa actor will start shooting for the upcoming season in mid-July, which will air on August 12.
Kartik Aaryan Keen To Take Over the Mantle!
A source close to the show revealed to the portal that a few years ago, the makers of KBC approached certain stars to take over the mantle from Bachchan. However, the heads of Sony TV as well as the actors felt that replacing the legend would be unwise.
The source said that the top actors who were approached to take over the mantle refused saying that Mr Bachchan's shoes are too big to fill. However, only one actor has been sending feelers to host the show and it is Kartik Aaryan.
Undeniably, Bachchan is loved by the masses and classes. Moreover, he is creatively involved in every aspect of the show. Kartik Aaryan being too young can't bring Bachchan's gravitas and knowledge to the table, the source added.
