Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming ambitious project Ramayana is one of the most talked about projects. While the pre-production work for the movie has already begun, the buzz around the star cast in the cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic has been skyrocketing the excitement among all.
As per the earlier reports, Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol have come on board and the makers are in talks with Vijay Sethupathi for essaying the role of Vibhishana. Reports are also abuzz that Lara Dutta will be seen as Queen Kaikeyi, third wife of King Dasaratha. Now, speculations are rife that Rakul Preet Singh is in talks with the makers and is likely to join the magnum opus. If the reports are anything to go by, Rakul is being considered to play the role of Demon King Ravana’s sister Shurpanakha.

On Saturday, Pinkvilla reported that Tiwari is discussing the project with Rakul. The report quoted a close source as saying, “Rakul and Nitesh Tiwari have been in talks for a while now and the casting is now in place for Shurpanakha. It’s one of the most important characters of Ramayana, as Shurpanakha is the one who is responsible for the rivalry of Lord Ram and Ravana.”
Further, the source added, “Rakul is excited to step into the world of this epic and the paperwork will happen soon. The actress is considering this associate with the evergreen tale of Ramayana as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
While an official confirmation is awaited regarding the casting, a recent report in Bollywood Hungama confirmed the principal cast of Ramayana is locked. As per the report, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are set to essay the role of Lord Ram and Devi Sita in the Indian epic’s cinematic version. On the other hand, Sunny Deol will be seen as Lord Hanuman and Yash will portray the character of Demon King Ravana.

While the preparations have already begun for the movie, the team is all set to go on floors in March 2024 to kick-start shooting for the first instalment of the planned trilogy.
