Kangana Ranaut dropped a surprise for fans as her social media handles announced that her upcoming movie ‘Emergency’ will now be released on January 17, 2025. The move comes after the film faced multiple delays. It was originally expected to drop in June or September 2024.

Falling in the political drama genre, ‘Emergency’ will narrate the saga of Indian politics when the country’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a national emergency.

Additionally, it will also explore Gandhi’s life, the turmoil in the country, and the impact of the 21-month Emergency in the country from 1975 to 1977.

Soon after the actress-turned-politician dropped the news online, fans cherished it with joy. Several netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed their excitement for the upcoming flick.

“Can’t wait!” wrote one even as another expressed their hope with an “all-time blockbuster” remark. Additionally, congratulatory and best wishes messages flooded the comments section of the post.

Several social media users also pointed out the fact that Ranaut dropped the news at a time when Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ had taken up all the hype with its trailer release just a while ago.

‘Emergency’ stars Kangana Ranaut as Indira Gandhi, Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Moreover, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Satish Kaushik, and Vishak Nair will be seen in other prominent roles.

Incidentally, this movie will mark Kangana Ranaut’s second time as a director. The Mandi Member of Parliament had previously directed ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ in 2019.
