The countdown for YRF's spy-thriller War 2 has finally begun elevating anticipation among all. With the release of War 2 just 10 days away, fans are eagerly awaiting the face-off between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. However, early signs from the overseas market suggest that the film’s advance bookings are off to a disappointing start.

A Slow Start in the US
The United States became the first market to open advance sales for War 2, with YRF banking on the combined star power of Roshan and NTR to generate strong pre-release buzz. But nearly a full day after pre-sales began, the results have been underwhelming, particularly for the Hindi version.
Ticketing platforms such as Movie For Tickets show that many major theatres screening the Hindi version have yet to sell a single ticket for the Wednesday premiere. According to trade sources, YRF plans to release War 2 (Hindi) across 900 US screens for paid previews. Yet as of Sunday morning, only about 1,600 tickets had been sold across these venues, leaving many halls empty.
Why the Hindi Version Is Lagging?
Industry insiders suggest the weak response could be linked to viewing habits. Paid preview and Wednesday premiere shows are rare in Hindi cinema, as audiences typically prefer to watch big films on opening day or over the weekend. In contrast, such early shows are hugely popular in Tamil and Telugu markets, often drawing large crowds for superstar-led releases.

Telugu Version Shows More Promise
The Telugu version of War 2 is faring better thanks to Jr NTR’s massive fan base. Early reports indicate that Wednesday premiere collections have already crossed the $100K mark in the US for the Telugu version. Still, trade analysts say the numbers fall short of expectations for a film of this scale, with the Telugu version needing to cross $1 million in pre-sales alone to justify its expansive US release.
