The acid attack on a 17-year-old Plus 12 student in Delhi has left the entire nation in shock. The victim has been battling for life in a critical state in hospital. The video of the gruesome incident has been going viral on social media and netizens are demanding exemplary punishment for the three accused.
Now, even celebrities have joined in demanding stringent action against the accused.
Actress Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram handle to share the trauma that her sister Rangoli went through due to acid attack. She demanded strict action against the accused.
Taking to her Instagram, Kangana wrote, “Rangoli Chandel was attacked with acid by a road side Romeo.. She had to go through 52 surgeries, unimaginable amount of mental and physical trauma.. We as a family were devastated.. I also had to go through therapy because I feared anyone passing me might throw acid on me which caused me to cover my face violently in a reflex action every time a biker, a car or a stranger crossed me.”
She further added, “The atrocities haven’t stopped… The government need to act very strongly against these crimes… I do agree with @gautamgambhir55 we need to take very strict measures against acid attackers.”
Earlier, former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir had expressed his shock on Twitter and wrote, “Words can’t do any justice. We have to instill fear of immeasurable pain in these animals. Boy who threw acid at school girl in Dwarka needs to be publicly executed by authorities.”
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the accused had ordered the acid from Flipkart, which exposes how easy it is to buy acid, online or at a shop, despite ban on sale by Supreme Court. The Delhi Commission for Women has sent notice to Flipkart and Amazon in this regard.
The three accused have been identified as Sachin Arora, 20, and his friends Harshit Aggarwal, 19, and Virender Singh, 22. Sachin and Harshit threw acid on the girl while Virender took Sachin’s mobile phone and the scooter used in the crime to another location to mislead the police.
However, they were arrested within 12 hours.
