It is the superstars who run Bollywood. Earlier it was Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, and Dharmendra, and in the 90s and even now it is Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and more recently it is all about Ranveer Singh, and Ranbir Kapoor demanding hefty paycheck.
Decades earlier, names of directors like Bimal Roy, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Guru Dutt had the power to attract the audience to the theaters irrespective of the lead star cast. Now once again the focus is shifting toward the directors with Siddharth Anand, Atlee, Rohit Shetty, Rajamouli, Rajkumar Hirani, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga headlining their films.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga earned 200 crore from Animal
Reportedly Siddharth Anand was paid only 6 crore for Pathaan. But after it became a super hit, his fees multiplied hugely, and for Fighter he is being paid Rs 40 crore almost double that of what Deepika Padukone is getting as the female lead. Even Jawan director Atlee charges somewhere close to 50 crores much more than most of the leading Bollywood actors and actresses.
But it is Sandeep Reddy Vanga who is making the most from the success of his blockbusters.
The director has earned Rs 200 crore as a part of his remuneration for directing Animal. Although his initial fee was much less after the movie became a record-breaking hit earning close to 800 crores worldwide, he received a massive check from the producers.
With Animal and Kabir Singh, Vanga has established a strong foothold in the movie industry as one of the leading directors. There is a strong buzz that for his next movie titled Spirit with Prabhas , Vanga will be paid a sizeable portion of the profit. Both Animal and Kabir Singh have been highly criticised for showing aggression and violence towards women in a wrong way.
But it has not deterred Sandeep Reddy Vanga who has said that his upcoming movies will have more violence and darker shades.
