Reportedly, it was a difficult pregnancy which is why the couple decided to shift to London for better treatment and the delivery took place in the capital city of the UK. Around the same time, Virat Kohli was spotted in London which is why the rumours that Anushka delivered her second child in London gained momentum.
The power couple have named their son Akaay which according to Hindu mythology means Shiva.
Many Virushka fans are wondering whether Akaay will automatically become a British citizen now that he was born in London. Although the couple have a home in London, they have always stayed in India most of the time. So will his birthplace make a difference to Akaay’s citizenship? Akaay can become British but on certain conditions
Sports Tak has said that the rules in the UK do not automatically consider a boy born in its country as a British citizen. The boy can become a citizen of Britain if either of his/her parents are already British or have a settled status and have been living in the UK for a very long time. In the same way, if British citizens give birth to a child outside the UK, their children are still considered to be British.
It also depends upon how the parents have obtained their British citizenship. So even though Akaay’s birth has been registered in the UK and he will get a passport from the UK government, he will be still considered a citizen of India.
So Akaay cannot become a British citizen automatically by birth. However, his parents Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma can register for his British citizenship. Akaay can become eligible for the registration under the condition that he was born in London, but only after he continues to stay in the UK until he becomes at least 10 years old.
