2 including minor boy tortured in Puri
A shocking incident of inhumane torture has come to light from Kotakosanga village under Balanga Police Station limits in Puri district, where a group of miscreants allegedly brutally assaulted two including a minor boy.
The youth and the minor were allegedly tied to an electric pole, beaten mercilessly with iron rods, his head smashed, and cigarettes stubbed on his body, before being forced to drink urine.
“We had gone to the fair. Mistaking us, they tied us to an electric pole, thrashed us, “alleged another minor accompanying the victim.
Victim’s father said, “There was some dispute between two villages. Later, they took the youths and thrashed and forced to drink urine. We want the culprits should be punished.”
Sequence Of Events
The incident reportedly occurred on the day of a local fair held in Kotakosanga village. Two youths including a minor boy from Birat Sahi had visited the fair when a clash broke out between groups of youths from Kotakosanga and Pradhansahi on Saturday night.
While police detained some individuals from Pradhansahi for questioning, a group of antisocial youths from Kotakosanga reportedly mistook the two minors as rivals and cornered them.
Torture Crosses All Limits
One of the minor boy along with a youth were allegedly tied to a nearby electric pole, where they were subjected to unimaginable torture. According to reports, the attackers used iron rods to beat the victims, stubbed lit cigarettes on their body, cracked open one of their head, and even forced to consume urine—a horrifying act that has sparked widespread outrage in the region.
Family members, upon receiving information, rushed to the scene and rescued the tortured boy. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. His condition remains serious but stable, according to police sources.
Balanga Police have begun an intensive investigation following a formal complaint. "We have received the complaint and started identifying those involved in the incident. The culprits will not be spared," said a senior police official.
