The Orissa High Court today granted bail to Akash Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak in connection with a fraud allegedly committed by him on pretext of providing employment in Tata Motors.
The FIR against Akash pertaining to the massive recruitment scam was registered at Baidyanathpur police station in Ganjam district.
Earlier on March 1, the Orissa High Court had granted bail to Akash and his father Abhay Pathak in connection with a cheating case registered with the Kharvel Nagar Police station. The father-son duo alleged defrauded Sky King, a Bhubaneswar-based travel agency of Rs 65 lakh.

The duo had booked chartered flights, five-star hotels and air tickets through the agency which cost around Rs 2.78 crore. However, they had paid Rs 2.13 crore while an outstanding bill of Rs 65,16,233 is yet to be cleared, the travel agency had mentioned in the complaint filed with the Commissionerate Police.
Earlier on June 18, Abhay, who was arrested in connection with disproportionate assets (DA) and cheating cases, was released from the Jharpada Jail after being imprisoned for around six months.
Abhay and Akash were arrested on November 27 by the Vigilance on charges of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets amounting to Rs 9.35 crore. The father-son duo was subsequently booked for two more cheating cases.
