A businessman from Rourkela reportedly died by jumping off a hotel building in Jamshedpur on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Rahul Agarwal, has accused his wife and in-laws of torture by slapping a false dowry case against his family.
Before ending his life, Rahul reportedly narrated his ordeal in a video which has now gone viral on social media. In the video, he alleged that his elderly parents were suffering as they had to make rounds of courts.
Rahul further alleged that he was also not allowed to meet and talk to his children. In the video, he also alleged that Jamshedpur police did not listen to their side and acted on the allegations levelled by his in-laws.
A resident of Rourkela’s civil township, Rahul was upset after his wife Varsha filed a case against him and his family of dowry harassment. Rahul had married Varsha in 2012.
Jamshedpur DSP, Animesh Gupta said, “Rahul Agarwal of Rourkela had some family dispute and he jumped off hotel building here. We have informed his family members and CCTV footage is also being examined.” Meanwhile, the in-laws could not be contacted over Rahul’s allegations.
