The Banta police on Sunday arrested two persons in Bhadrak for allegedly cheating several unemployed youths to the tune of around Rs 5 lakh under the pretext of providing them jobs in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The arrested accused identified as Karunakar Rout from Belada village and Kishan Nayak from Badhagadia village in the district have been forwarded to the Court.
As per reports, the accused duo had allegedly demanded money from several victims while assuring to land them jobs in the reserve police force with help of top contacts in the CRPF.

Some local youths in the area allegedly paid the cheaters to the tune of Rs 5 lakh. But when they didn’t get any employment after a prolonged period of time, they insisted for return of their amount. After repeated demands, Karunakar subsequently gave a cheque to one of the unemployed youths named Satyaprakash.
However, when the cheque bounced, the aggrieved youths came together and lodged a complaint against the accused at the nearby police station.
“We asked for the return of our money several times. But both Karunakar and Kishan didn’t pay heed to our requests. We had no option but to complain the police,” said one of the victims, Banamali Behera.
“At the hindsight we feel that it’s a well organised fake job racket. We are hopeful that police will be able to trace the roots and we will get back our money,” said another victim Satyashri Jyoti Prakash Rout.
