Balasore: In yet another twist to the sensational and mysterious death of Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, the mother of the deceased officer today claimed that her son and daughter-in-law had made a pact before marriage that they would not keep any physical relationship till one year after wedding.
“She (Soumya’s wife Bidya Bharati) didn’t have any relationship with my son. They had an agreement before marriage that she would not keep any physical relationship with her husband till the completion of one year of the marriage,” alleged Soumya’s mother Tulasi Mohapatra.
“My son (Soumya) had once told me he had a fight with Bidya one night following which she broke her bangles and left the quarters at night. Soumya searched for her allover and finally traced her to the quarters of the DFO,” he added.

Tulasi further alleged that Bidya had an affair with another man near her village before marriage. She could be wanting to elope with him after mopping up my son's properties, Tulasi alleged.
Bidya’s parents and family members were also aware of her relationship with that man, Tulasi claimed.
“Although Bidya talked to me over phone but she did not allow Soumya to speak to any of my family members,” Tulasi alleged.
Another relative of Soumya termed the media statement of Bidya Bharati ‘baseless’.
"Bidya had earlier claimed before media that she was serving food on the fateful day (when Soumya allegedly burnt himself accidentally) and the cook was preparing food parcel for the DFO. But, there was a feast arranged at the DFO quarters on the same night. Why would the cook make food for the DFO," he asked, rubbishing the claims of Bidya and the DFO.
Meanwhile a team from the Paralakhemundi police reached Khaira police station in Balasore in connection with the murder probe. The team is scheduled to record the statement of the family members of the deceased ACF.
Later, the team is also scheduled to meet the family of Bidya Bharati at Udala in Mayurbhanj for questioning.
The Khaira police is assisting the investigating team.
"A six-member team has reached here. We will provide all kind of assistance they need," said Sriballava Sahoo, Khaira Police IIC.
Another police team is also scheduled to visit the DFO’s office and verify the records of Soumya's duty. A senior official from Paralakhemundi Model Police Station had held discussion with Soumya's colleague Gouri Prasad Rath in connection with the investigation.
According to reports, police will examine the logbook of the Soumya's official vehicle to find out the duty hour of the late ACF. According to sources, Soumya was assigned night duty very often.
