Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday caught Babita Suna, Assistant Sub-Inspector posted at Mahila Police station in Berhampur, while she was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
As per available information, the lady ASI had demanded a bribe from a complainant and his mother involved in a case registered at the Mahila Police Station. Babita was the investigating officer in the case.
It is alleged that the lady ASI was also threatening the complainant relating to the case and had demanded Rs 10,000 from him.
Finding no other option, the complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities. Following this, Vigilance sleuths nabbed the lady ASI today while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused ASI and seized.
Probe Into DA Case
Following the successful trap, the Vigilance officials are carrying out simultaneous searches at two locations linked to the lady ASI from the disproportionate assets (DA) case.
