In a chilling case of brutality, a young woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her lover in Berhampur. The investigation into the recovery of the woman’s body from a lodge has revealed that the accused had stabbed her nearly 20 times in a fit of rage and suspicion.
According to police sources, the accused, identified as Abhaya Maharana, suspected that his 24-year-old girlfriend was planning to marry someone else.
Enraged over it, he reportedly lured her to a lodge, where he first engaged in physical relations and then attacked her with a knife, stabbing her multiple times and killing her on the spot.
The incident took place inside a private lodge in Berhampur, and the woman's body was discovered in a pool of blood. Following the crime, Abhaya surrendered at the local police station, confessing to the murder.
A scientific team was rushed to the spot for forensic analysis, while the police also conducted a scene recreation to piece together the sequence of events. Preliminary findings suggest that the murder was premeditated, fueled by jealousy and suspicion.
The shocking nature of the crime has left local residents stunned. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
