The Supreme Court on Monday directed the parents of a five-year-old, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Nayagarh district, to approach the Orissa High Court.
The Apex court was hearing a plea by the victim’s mother seeking CBI probe into the rape and murder of her daughter in July last year.
The victim’s mother had initially filed a writ petition and, later, a special leave petition urging the top court to order a CBI investigation into the sensational case that had triggered massive outrage in the State.

Reacting to the SC order, the father of the victim said, “As the Supreme Court has asked us to approach the High Court, we will follow the directive and make an appeal. Our fight for justice will continue until the actual culprits who have murdered my daughter and sold her organs are nabbed.”
“We will appeal in the High Court as directed by the Supreme Court. We have complete faith in God and will fight for our daughter till our last breath,” said the deceased’s mother.
It is noted that the five-year-old girl was kidnapped on July 14 last year when she was playing outside her house. Her skeletal remains were recovered from the backyard of her house nine days later.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Odisha Crime Branch, which probed the case, had arrested the prime accused who hailed from Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, the native place of the deceased.
Eight months after his arrest, the Children’s Court in Nayagarh recently framed charges against 17-year-old prime accused. He has been charged under Sections 376 A, 376 AB, 363, 364, 302 and 201 of IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
