"After knowing that my family was looking for a bride for me, posing as a mediator, he gave a proposal. One day, my family members hired a vehicle to go to the prospective bride’s house. They were in the middle of the journey when he called them and managed to send them back citing some excuses. When our family members lost their faith in him, the prospective bride started chatting with the family members using a different number. She also spoke with my family members through video calling. Later, in order to win confidence, they bought me a blazer, sherwani and some ornaments,” narrated the duped groom.
“The fraudsters then used their last bait and our family completely rose to it. He said the girl’s father was a bit reluctant as I am unemployed. He demanded Rs 5 lakh to arrange a Railway Group B job for me. Without informing me, my family members gave him Rs 3 lakh and promised to give the rest soon. He also promised that he would return the money if he failed to arrange the job. Now all five to six numbers are not reachable,” he added.
