The hearing on the plea to examine signature of Gobinda Sahu-- the prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, has been deferred by Bangomunda JMFC till November 24.
In a bid to collect strong evidence against Sahu, police had sought permission of the court to examine his signature.
However, the lawyer of the accused strongly advocated against the permission. It is expected that the police may take Gobinda on remand again to examine his signature or else his signature will be examined in presence of the jailor.
The court will hear about the matter on the next date on November 24.
As per police sources, the signature test of Gobinda will be done to prove in the Court that he was the president of the Sinshine School managing committee when Mamita was a teacher in that school.
Earlier on November 18, the Orissa High Court had sought a status report from the State government on the investigation of the sensational murder case.
Mamita’s family members had filed a petition in the High Court seeking fast track trial of the case.
State Home Secretary, DGP, Balangir Collector, Balangir SP and the Sindhekela police station IIC have been made respondents in the case.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the police investigation, the petitioners had alleged that the delay in the completion of the investigation is putting huge mental pressure on the family members of the victim.
The Court had directed the government advocate to collect all related information about the investigation process into the case and submit the status report at the earliest.
