A handbag found at the house of Radhe alias Radheshyam Chandi, one of the arrested accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, does not belong to the deceased, the police confirmed on Saturday.
Asha, wife of Radhe, had handed over the bag, which was kept under the bed in her house, to officials of Kegaon police station in Kalahandi district on Friday. However, the family members of the deceased school teacher did not confirm that the bag belonged to her.
A police team today handed over a chain and anklets which were recovered from near the body of Mamita to her family members.

Today, Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) chairperson Minati Behera visited the stadium in Mahaling where the body of Mamita was buried by accused Gobinda Sahu. The accused confessed to have strangled Mamita inside his car.
The OSCW chief also held discussion with Kegaon police. Prior to that, the panel head visited Jharani village under Turekela area in Bolangir district and met the family of the deceased teacher.
“My family is now in dire straits. I have urged the commission chief to ensure a government job to my son and financial help to run my family. I also sought justice for my daughter by giving death penalty to the accused,” said the father of the deceased.
“The State Commission for Women has sought report from the SP to ensure a fair probe and punishment for the accused. The investigation needs time and the accused will certainly get punished,” said Minati Behera, OSCW chairperson.
