A key accused in the heist of gold and cash from the Manappuram Gold Loan office on Budharaja Main Road in Sambalpur city, has been apprehended from Guwahati in Assam, informed Inspector General (IG) Himanshu Lal on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Uttam Kumar Paswan. The Sambalpur police will move to court seeking a seven-day remand of Pasawan to carry out further investigation in the case.
It is pertinent to mention here that armed robbers had decamped with approximately 30 kg of gold along with cash worth Rs 4 lakh from Manappuram Gold Loan office in Sambalpur on January 3, 2025.

Around six to seven armed robbers had stormed the premises and loot the gold and cash after thrashing and terrorising everyone present at gunpoint.
The dramatic escape of the robbers was also captured by CCTV cameras.
Earlier, the Sambalpur Police had also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the capture of a suspect involved in a crime.
