Girl returning home with male friend abducted in Bhubaneswar

In a startling turn of events, a young woman returning to her home late Sunday night was reportedly kidnapped by four men at Lumbini Vihar in Bhubaneswar. The miscreants kidnapped her and sped away in a car, reports said.

Sources said, the woman was returning home with her male friend on a scooty at around 1:30am late Sunday night, when the incident occurred. Love triangle is suspected to be the reason behind the incident.

Four miscreants came in a car from nowhere and attacked the woman’s male friend, leaving him critically injured. They later gagged the girl, put her inside the car and sped away. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured youth, who was later admitted to a local hospital.

Based on a complaint by the injured youth, the Maitri Vihar police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the four miscreants and rescue the girl.

“The perpetrators arrived in a vehicle, attacking her male companion with a weapon before forcibly taking the woman. The male friend suffered injuries during the assault,” an eyewitness said.

Residents of Lumbini Vihar expressed safety concerns following this incident, urging swift action from law enforcement to ensure that community security is upheld. 

Authorities are yet to release further details, but they have assured of taking all possible measures to locate the abducted woman and apprehend the suspects involved soon.

Meanwhile, reports said a dedicated team of Maitri Vihar police swung into action and rescued the young woman safely on Monday. The woman is currently kept at Maitri Vihar police station and police are trying to uncover the motive behind the abduction.
