Bhanjanagar (Ganjam): The police today claimed to have cracked the case involving the discovery of a headless male body on the Rushikulya river bed near Puspa Nagar here under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district on June 22 this year.
Police claimed the wife of the deceased was the main accused in the case. She had murdered her husband, identified as Bhagaban Nayak, with the help of her father and mother, police added.
The case was fallout of a protracted family feud, SDPO Umashankar Singh said while addressing the media.

“During investigation, we found that there was dispute in the family of the deceased following which his father-in-law, mother in-law and wife had murdered him on June 18 night. In order to destroy evidence, they had buried the head and body separately. We faced difficulties in the recovery of the head and the body.” Singh said.
The accused, identified as Kabiraj Nayak, Kisori Nayak and Jhili Nayak were arrested yesterday (June 25).They will be forwarded to a court today, he added.
“Investigation is still on. If any more person is found involved in the murder, we would bring him/her under the purview of investigation,” Singh pointed out.
Locals had discovered a mutilated headless body on the river bed on January 22 and informed the police.
The police said Bhagaban used to torture his wife in an inebriated condition every day suspecting her character. Unable to bear the torture, his wife had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him. As per the plan, the woman with the help of her parents had killed her husband on June 18.
