Drug bust in Puri: Inter-district brown sugar network exposed, 3 arrested
In a major breakthrough against narcotics, the Chandapur Police in Puri district seized a significant quantity of brown sugar and arrested three traders on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a targeted raid, recovering 157 grams of brown sugar, valued at approximately Rs 1.62 lakh in the illegal market.
According to police sources, the accused are inter-district peddlers, not local residents, and were allegedly involved in cross-district drug trafficking. Investigators believe their arrest could lead to the exposure of a larger supply and distribution network operating across the region.
Officials added that efforts are being made to track down the source of supply and identify other members of the racket. The accused have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
