Just a few metres away from the revered Jagannath Temple in Puri , a bike was stolen from the parking area of a local shopping complex. The entire episode was captured on CCTV, offering a clear view of the thief in action.

One Balaram Dikshit of Mangala Ghat, Puri, had parked his bike outside M Bazar on Saturday and went inside for shopping. After purchasing items, when he returned to the parking area, he was shocked to find his motorcycle missing.

Suspecting foul play, he immediately reviewed the CCTV footage on the premises. The video revealed that a miscreant entered the shopping complex premises, walked straight toward the parking zone, and made several attempts to steal different vehicles. After failing in a few attempts, the accused finally managed to unlock one bike using a master key and fled the scene.

The suspect's actions were clearly recorded in the footage, which is now in possession of the police.

Following a complaint by the Dikshit, a case has been registered at the Puri Town Police Station, and efforts are underway to trace the accused.

The incident, occurring near the high-security Srimandir area, has raised serious questions about public safety and parking security in the pilgrim town. Locals have demanded increased patrolling and surveillance, especially around busy marketplaces and religious sites.
