The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested six transgenders on the charges of attacking police personnel in Bhubaneswar.
An attempt to murder case against all the six accused has been registered and they were forwarded to court, informed a senior police officer.
According to reports, several complaints were earlier filed against the accused transgenders for extorting money from people and conducting loots. Perturbed by these allegations, the group lost their cool and allegedly roughed up the cops.
A constable, who sustained serious injuries in the incident, has been admitted to a nearby hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.

“Six transgenders have been arrested for assaulting police at Bharatpur police station. An attempt to murder case under section 307 against the accused has been registered. They have been forwarded to the local court,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Umashankar Das.
“Police patrolling has been intensified in Bhubaneswar and we are keeping a vigil on the activities of the transgenders at night to prevent any untoward incident,” said Das.
Earlier in June, two transgenders were rounded up by a joint team of the Odisha Crime Branch and Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Bhubaneswar Railway Station on the charges of possessing around 16 kilograms of Ganja (Dry Cannabis).
