COVID cases have now dipped to less than 1500, a record low figure in over a month in the third wave of pandemic in Odisha. The State on Monday reported 1497 new infections taking the overall positive tally to 1268308.
As many as 283 positives were detected from the 0-18 year age group. A total of 874 cases were reported from quarantine while 623 are local transmission cases, as per the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
On Sunday 2106 new infections were reported from different parts of the State, 324 new Covid-19 cases were reported among the 0 to 18 years category.
Only two districts reported new infection figures in three digits. Khordha reported maximum 251 cases, followed by 101 in Sundargarh.
Jharsuguda (75), Angul (71), Cuttack (69), Koraput (66), Jajpur (64), Deogarh (62), Sambalpur (59), Nayagarh (56), Rayagada (52), Balasore (50), Gajapati (45), Keonjhar (42), Kalahandi (38), Puri (37), Mayurbhanj (35), Nabrangpur (34), Boudh (32), Kandhamal (31), Dhenkanal (27), Jagatsinghpur (24), Nuapada (23), Bargarh (22), Balangir (22), Bhadrak (19), Kendrapada(16), Ganjam (8), Malkangiri (7), Sonepur (6) and State Pool (53).
As per the Health Department, at least 20 patients succumbed to the disease which took the death toll due to Covid-19 to 8,754.
Khordha also topped all districts in terms of deaths due to the disease while recording 6 new fatalities. Similarly, Kalahandi followed closely behind with 4 deaths and 3 from Cuttack. Two cases of fatalities each were reported from Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh districts while one each from Rayagada, Kendrapara, and Jajpur districts.
The active cases in the State stand at 21,525 as a total of 12,37,976 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 3,624 on Sunday, said I&PR Department data.
A total of 2,80,43,615 samples have been tested including 47,101 in the last 24 hours. The daily test positivity rate stands at 3.1 per cent.
