The Odisha sero survey that kicked off in the Capital City on Tuesday, concluded today. On the last day, the survey was conducted in three zones of the Smart City.
As many as five teams, including officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), were engaged to carry out the sample survey on sero-prevalence in the City denizens against the coronavirus.
The two-day serological surveillance was undertaken by the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in ward No 8, 15, 32, 41 and 63 of Bhubaneswar, as per the direction of the BMC.
On the other hand, ICMR's Bhubaneswar arm is simultaneously carrying out the serological survey in 12 districts of Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Khordha, Puri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.

For a seamless conduction of the all-important survey, five officers were nominated as nodal authorities. The nodal officer were engaged to ensure mobilization of 200 persons among various age groups, including children, for the survey and co-ordinate with the sero-survey team to see it completed successfully, the BMC guidelines stated.

Commenced from August 29 in 12 diistricts of the State, the objective of the survey is to estimate and compare the age-specific prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the general population and health care workers across the State. The survey is scheduled to continue till September 12.
The RMRC team will collect 6,680 samples general population in the 12 districts, while 100 samples will be collected from healthcare workers in each district.
