Tension erupted at the Covid hospital at Rajasitapur in Gajapati district on Friday after the death of a COVID-19 patient due to alleged medical negligence.
The COVID patient, a resident of Almaida village under Gumma block in the district, was reportedly admitted to the hospital on June 4.
It is claimed that the patient was doing well before he succumbed to the infection all of a sudden.
While the family of the deceased alleged that the death was due to the sheer negligence of the medical staff and also suspect organ trade, the concerned authorities have rebuffed the allegations.
Some locals and relatives of the deceased also demanded to allow them see the body of the victim suspecting organ theft.

"We suspect that his (the deceased patient) kidney, liver or eyes may have been stolen by the medical staff. So, we want to see the body before it is cremated," said a relative of the deceased.
Responding to the allegations Saroj Behera, district emergency officer, said that no such evidence of medical negligence has come to the fore.
"We are doing audit of each Covid death and details of the reason of death and medical negligence, if any, are also being mentioned during the audit," he said.
He further said that if the relatives of the deceased are suspecting any type of foul play, they can see the body while strictly adhering to the COVId-19 protocols.
