The Covid-19 daily count in Odisha breached 10,000-mark for the first time in nearly eight months today. The State on Thursday reported 10,059 cases, including 872 cases from 0 to 18 years age group, and three deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
The State had last reported over 10,000 cases on May 25, 2021 with 11,623 infections in a day. The State had yesterday recorded 8,778 infections. Out of the total cases, 5,833 were detected in quarantine while 4,226 are local contact cases, said I&PR department.
Khordha district reported maximum 3,188 cases, followed by Sundergarh (1348), Cuttack (870) and Sambalpur (570).
Details of Covid cases in other districts: Mayurbhanj (423), Balasore (278), Puri (272), Jharsuguda (219), Bolangir (216), Jajpur (212), Koraput (155), Ganjam (154), Jagatsinghpur (142), Bhadrak (138), Rayagada (131), Kalahandi (123), Nabarangpur (122), Keonjhar (109), Sonepur (106) and Nayagarh (102).
Similarly, districts that reported less than 100 cases are-- Gajapati (82), Bargarh (76), Nuapada (66), Kendrapara (51), Dhenkanal (50), Angul (46), Kandhamal (36), Dhenkanal (18), Malkangiri (17), Boudh (15) and State Pool (724).
Among the deaths, Angul, Kendrapara and Nayagarh district reported one each death in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
With this, the Covid-19 positive tally in the State has surged to 11,01,606 while the death toll rose to 8,472 till date. A total of 10,48,732 people have recovered from the infection. The active cases have gone up to 44,349, added the State I&PR department.
