As many as 10 students of a government run girl’s school in Odisha’s Bolangir district tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The students have been kept in isolation in separate rooms on the premises of the school and undergoing treatment, informed Siddharth Shankar Swain, Angul district Collector.
“A routine COVID test was carried out in the schools as per the government order. Out of 150 students, 10 Girls tested positive duruing Rapid Antigen Test (RAT),” Swain said.
He added, “Their samples have also been sent for RTPCR test for cross verification. An advisory has also been issued to all schools to conduct COVID-19 tests every 10 days in residential campuses and at least once in a month in non-residential campuses.”
The Angul district Collector appealed for co-operation from the school authorities and guardians to fight COVID spread.
A total of 21 swab samples of the positive students were earlier sent for genome sequencing to the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar. The reports of 11 samples were received by the VIMSAR today, said reports.
Earlier on December 2, a Plus 2 residential college in Kunjakanta area under ward No 2 of Dhenkanal district was sealed after 33 students were tested positive for Covid-19.
On November 27, a total of 25 students of a tribal residential girl's school in Thakurmunda area of Mayurbhanj district had tested positive for Coronavirus.
