As Cyclone Dana is approaching Odisha coast, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the cyclonic storm has been currently centered at Central Bay of Bengal that is around 420 km away from Paradip.

As many as 288 rescue teams have been deployed in 13 districts to tackle any eventualities that may occur during the cyclone Dana’s landfall process and in its wake.
The depression over the East-central Bay of Bengal on Tuesday intensified into a deep depression and lay about 690 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 740 km south-southeast of Sagar Island (West Bengal) and 710 km south-southeast of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
At a time when the Odisha government is bracing itself up to ensure zero casualties in cyclone Dana, as many as 15 families are learnt to have been stranded on an island in Balasore district.

Due to Cyclone Dana's impending landfall, East Coast Railway has announced the cancellation of 198 trains over three days—October 23, 24, and 25.
The West Bengal government on Tuesday ordered the closure of schools and colleges in nine districts in the state from October 23 to October 25 in view of the impending threat from the cyclone "Dana".

In view of eminent Cyclone Dana, as many as 93 trains have been cancelled for three days, on October 23, 24 and 25.
As per reports, all the hospitals have been directed to keep anti-snake venoms and medicines for diarrhoea. The hospitals have also been asked to keep 24x7 power back up.
October 24 and October 25 will be crucial for the people in several districts of Odisha in view of the severe cyclonic storm Dana which is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha.
As per an official notification issued by the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), colleges and universities in 14 districts will remain closed from October 23 to October 25, 2024.
Revenue And Disaster Management Minister, Suresh Pujari says, "A total of 250 relief centres have been reviewed by the officials and kept ready. Apart from this, 500 temporary shelters have been made ready including schools and colleges. Those, who will be evacuated, will be provided cooked food and medical services. A list of pregnant women has also been prepared by the health department. Women, children and elderly persons have been advised to shift to safer places in the affected areas. Women police officers will be deployed at relief centres... Everything at ground zero is ready, and an adequate stock of ration has been kept ready along with polythene and other materials..."
