The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday cleared the air surrounding the projected path of the impending cyclone. As per IMD, cyclone Dana is likely to make landfall somewhere between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra. As many as 288 rescue teams have been deployed in 13 Odisha districts to tackle any eventualities that may occur during the cyclone Dana’s landfall process. The cyclone is likely to be named Dana, a name given by Qatar.

    Dana 80 Km away from Dhamra 

    As per the latest IMD bulletin, at 2130 Hrs IST, the severe cyclonic storm 'Dana' moved North-Northwestwards at a speed of 13 Kmph and lay centred about 60 Km east of Paradip, 80 Km South-Southeast of Dhamra and 180 Km south-southwest of Sagar Island (West Bengal).

    As per the IMD release, the storm is very likely to move north-northwest-wards and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamra during the midnight of 24th to morning Of 25th October 2024. It is likely to make landfall as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph.
