Mahakali: PVCU unleashes Bhoomi Shetty as the most FEROCIOUS SUPERHERO, know more about the actress

Ending weeks of speculation, filmmaker Prasanth Varma has finally unveiled the lead of his next ambitious project, Mahakali, under the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). The first-look poster featuring Bhoomi Shetty as the titular character has set the internet abuzz, marking the arrival of a fierce new superhero in Indian cinema.

Expanding the PVCU

After the phenomenal success of HanuMan (2024) starring Teja Sajja, Varma continues to expand his mythological superhero universe with Mahakali. Earlier, the makers teased fans with a powerful poster of Akshaye Khanna, which heightened anticipation. Now, with Bhoomi Shetty stepping into the spotlight, the excitement surrounding the film has reached new heights.

Bhoomi Shetty as the Embodiment of Power and Divinity

The first-look poster presents Bhoomi in a divine yet terrifying avatar, embodying the essence of Goddess Mahakali. Adorned with traditional ornaments and striking colors, her intense gaze reflects both raw power and spiritual energy. The dark and detailed imagery aligns with Prasanth Varma’s signature storytelling- an evocative blend of mythology and modernity.

Varma introduced Shetty, who earned recognition for her performances in Kingdom and Sharathulu Varthisthai, as “the most FEROCIOUS SUPERHERO of the universe.”

Behind the Vision: Team and Production

Produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under RK Duggal Studios, Mahakali is created by Prasanth Varma and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru in her directorial debut. The story is said to explore feminine energy, destruction, and rebirth, further deepening the mythological core of the PVCU.

Over 50% of the shoot has already been completed, with grand sets erected in Hyderabad. With Bhoomi Shetty’s intense portrayal and Varma’s visionary storytelling, Mahakali promises to be a visually spectacular chapter in India’s superhero mythos.

Earlier on Wednesday, Varma teased the unveiling of Mahakali's lead actor with a poster featuring a 'hand' with a note that read, “The eternal flame of destruction awakens.” (sic)

Bhoomi Shetty, who hails from Karnataka, has swiftly made her mark in both television and cinema. She first rose to prominence with her performance in the popular TV show Kinnari and later impressed audiences with her roles in Kingdom and Sharathulu Varthisthai.

Following the big announcement, director Puja shared a monochrome BTS picture in which she is seen posing with Bhoomi. The duo can be seen playfully sticking out their tongues.
