The Insider vs Outsider Debate

Gaurav claimed that an artiste’s first opportunity often depends on connections, not talent. Amaal countered, saying everyone faces their own share of struggles. Gaurav, however, added pointedly, “Jahan tera struggle shuru hua hai, hum aspire karte hai.”

Amaal, son of composer Daboo Malik and nephew of Anu Malik, admitted he had some ‘foot in the door’ moments but refused to engage in a full-blown war over nepotism. His remark on being a “reverse nepotism product” left the house divided in opinion.

In another episode, Amaal Mallik opened up about his personal journey in the film industry, sharing how his dreams of becoming a cricketer didn’t work out and how his first film, Jai Ho (2014), flopped.

He recalled moments of rejection when other composers refused to hire him as an assistant, mocking his ambitions. Feeling dejected, Amaal said he once called his aunt in New Zealand, saying he was ready to move there.

However, his emotional confession turned into a moment of amusement for fellow contestants Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More. Gaurav laughed, asking, “During tension, where is he going? New Zealand?” while Pranit quipped, “Rich people’s life. We used to go to Shirdi.” The banter continued, with Gaurav adding that his own aunt lived in Kanpur and Pranit joking about “first-world problems.”
