The wait is finally over for fans of the Drishyam franchise. The makers have officially confirmed the release date of Drishyam 3, bringing Ajay Devgn back as the ever-calculating Vijay Salgaonkar. The announcement was unveiled on Monday morning, revealing that the film will hit theatres on October 2, 2026- a date deeply woven into the story of the series.

Release Date and Cast Details Revealed
A newly dropped promo confirms that Drishyam 3 will arrive in cinemas four years after Drishyam 2 captivated audiences. Ajay Devgn reprises his iconic role, joined once again by Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor. Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav also return as Vijay’s daughters.
However, there is no confirmation yet on whether Akshaye Khanna, who played a key role as a police officer in Drishyam 2, will be part of the third instalment.
Details about the trailer are expected to be shared sometime in 2026. Production on the film is currently underway, with shooting likely to conclude in the first half of next year.
A Quick Look Back at The Drishyam Phenomenon
Released in 2015, Drishyam was the Hindi remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film of the same name. Directed by Nishikant Kamat, it followed Vijay Salgaonkar, an unassuming cable operator from Goa who outsmarts the system to protect his family after a crime shakes their lives. The film turned into a massive success, earning ₹197 crore worldwide.
Its sequel, Drishyam 2, released in 2022 and surpassed expectations, raking in ₹345 crore globally. Riding on this momentum, the third part was greenlit soon after.
Creative Team and Regional Expansion
Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.

Meanwhile, the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3, headlined by Mammootty, is also slated for a 2026 release, setting the stage for a parallel cinematic moment across languages.
