Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 315271 on Tuesday after 642 more persons tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours. Fourteen fatalities during the period have pushed the death toll to 1,671.
As per Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department, of the fresh cases reported from 29 districts, 374 are from quarantine and the rest 268 were local transmission.
Keonjhar reported the highest 70 fresh cases in the past 24 hours followed by Nuapada (69), Sundargarh (66), Khordha (62), Angul (46) and Mayurbhanj (41).
As far as the fatalities are concerned, Five patients succumbed to the virus in Sundargarh district, and three deaths were recorded in Sambalpur and Angul, Rayagada, Nuapada, Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack districts reported one death each, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
The department has shared the details of the 14 COVID patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at various hospitals:
- 28-year-old male of Angul district.
- 34-year-old female of Bhubaneswar.
- 62-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- 62-year-old male of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- 70-year-old female of Nuapada district who was also suffering from Hypertension & CVA.
- 73-year-old male of Rayagada district who was also suffering from Bronchial Asthma.
- 55-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- 37-year-old male of Sambalpur district.
- 69-year-old male of Sambalpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- 45-year-old male of Sundargarh district.
- 60-year-old female of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
- 70-year-old female of Sundargarh district.
- 65-year-old male of Sundargarh district.
- 31-year-old male of Sundargarh district.
As of now, at least 53 patients infected with COVID-19 have died due to pre-existing ailments, informed the H&FW Department.
After today’s surge, the active cases in the State have risen to 6821 while 306726 positive patients have so far recovered from the disease..
