Odisha is eagerly waiting for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on September 27. Though PM Modi was supposed to address a public meeting in Berhampur, the venue has now been changed to Jharsuguda due to heavy rain prediction by the MeT department.
The PM will reportedly unveil and lay foundation of multiple projects worth around Rs 1700 crore during his visit to Odisha. Among the several infrastructure projects set to be unveiled by the PM, a special focus will be on railways.
Koraput-Baiguda Railway Line Project
The Prime Minister will reportedly inaugurate the doubling of the 34-km Koraput-Baiguda railway line and the 82-km Manabar-Koraput-Gorapur section.
With a combined investment exceeding Rs 1,400 crore these projects are expected to speed up the growth of spouthern Odisha. Besides, the projects are likely to benefit both industries and local communities.
These apart, in Jharsuguda, the PM will also flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Surat, benefitting thousands of passengers.

Sambalpur City-Sarla Flyover Project
Among other key projects is the foundation stone laying of the Sambalpur City-Sarla flyover, which is expected to cost Rs 273 crore. The project is expected to enhance travel efficiency.
Moreover, as part of the nationwide ‘Seva Parv’ initiative, PM Modi will reportedly announce expansion of eight IITs and confer superspecialty status on Vimsar Sambalpur and MKCG Medicial College and Hospital, Berhampur.
