The Deputy Manager of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation has come under Vigilance scanner following allegations of possession of disproportionate assets. This morning, sleuths of the anti-corruption conducted simultaneous house searches at 10 places associated with Pratap Kumar Samal.

In a shocking development, 22 plots and 3 buildings belonging to the OPHWC deputy manager Pratap Samal and his wife have been traced so far by Vigilance. Of these, 17 plots and 2 buildings were traced in Bhubaneswar and Khordha, while 5 plots and a building have been traced in Basudevpur in Bhadrak.

A technical team of Odisha Vigilance is carrying out valuations as searches are still underway. As per reports, raids were launched at a 3-storey building at IRC Village, 6-storey building near Biju Patnaik College in Jaydev Vihar, single storeyed building at Khandagiri, a flat in Narendra Villa in Jaydev Vihar, 3-storey apartment in Bhadrak, temporary residence of his associate, his native house at Balasore and his office in Bhubaneswar.

Around 10 teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising an Additional SP, 5 DSPs and seven inspectors are conducting raids on the strength of search warrant issued by Special Vigilance Court.

After Vigilance launched raid on his house in IRC village, Samal reportedly dumped bundles of Indian currency of various denominations worth Rs 20 lakh stashed in a bag on the terrace of his neighbour’s house. This and another Rs 18 lakh cash recovered during house search were seized by the Vigilance sleuths.
