Cuttack Municipal Corporation and Commissionerate Police destroyed adulterated ghee worth Rs 10 Lakh on Thursday (September 30). As per reports, the Malgodown Police along with Chauliaganj Police had seized this adulterated ghee 6 months back.

They also seized the factory and arrested 6 persons in this connection. Though the raid took place 6 months back, the concerned administration destroyed over 10 quintals of the adulterated ghee at Sikharpur area today.

According to the CMC official, the ghee packets had no FSSAI registration. The ghee also had no manufacturing or best-before date printed on the packaging. The packaging was misbranded in a manner to evade the regulations and penalties.

The adulterated products are being destroyed as directed by the court, the official mentioned. On the other hand, Zone 1 ACP Amarendra Panda said that stern action has been taken against the accused and the police and administration will keep a close watch so that these instances do not occur in future.
