While many celebrated her comeback, some followers pointed out that Smriti wasn’t wearing her engagement ring in the advertisement. It remains unclear whether the shoot took place before or after her engagement.

Smriti and Palash were originally set to marry on 23 November 2025 in Sangli, but the ceremony was called off indefinitely after two sudden medical emergencies — Smriti’s father was hospitalised on the morning of the wedding, and shortly after, Palash reportedly required treatment due to stress. With both families under pressure, the decision was made to postpone the event.

The couple had earlier exchanged rings after Palash proposed to Smriti at DY Patil Stadium, shortly after India’s Women’s World Cup victory — a tournament where she topped the run-scoring charts.

Following the postponement, online speculation grew. Reports suggested shifts in both of their social media profiles, with claims of deleted posts and changes in following lists. This led to unverified rumours about Palash’s loyalty, fuelled further by alleged screenshots of private chats circulating online. Neither Smriti nor Palash has confirmed any such allegations.

Recently, both updated their Instagram bios with a nazar emoji, seemingly to ward off negativity. Meanwhile, Smriti’s brother Shravan Mandhana dismissed trending claims of a new wedding date, saying no fresh schedule has been decided.

Family members on both sides have asked for privacy, acknowledging the emotional strain the situation has caused. In a show of support, teammate Jemimah Rodrigues opted to skip the Women’s Big Bash League to remain by Smriti’s side.
