A video allegedly shot inside Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium after an ICC T20 World Cup match has ignited a heated online debate, raising questions about hygiene standards at one of India’s premier cricket venues. With thousands attending international fixtures, food and beverage safety remains a key expectation, making the viral clip all the more concerning.
The footage, recorded after the Netherlands vs Namibia match on February 10, appears to show stadium staff pouring soft drinks from disposable cups back into larger bottles. The person filming claims that leftover Thums Up from cups was being refilled into bottles to be sold during the next match, calling it a “scam.”
The video first surfaced on Instagram before spreading rapidly across social media platforms between February 11 and 12, drawing strong reactions from users.
Divided Reactions Online
Many viewers described the alleged act as a serious health risk and demanded action from stadium authorities. Some called it a “major hygiene issue” given the large crowds at such events.
However, others argued that the drinks may not have been used by spectators but were simply unsold stock being collected. A few defended the workers, suggesting the drinks were poured into cups for sale, and only the unsold portion was being returned to bottles.
No Official Clarity Yet
As the debate continues, it remains unclear whether the beverages were used, unsold, or being handled for another purpose. With public health concerns at stake, many are now calling for an official clarification from stadium authorities.
