Former India cricketer Jacob Martin, who represented the country in 10 One-Day Internationals, was allegedly arrested for drunk driving after his luxury SUV rammed into three parked cars in Vadodara in the early hours of Tuesday, police officials said.
The incident occurred offering around 2.30 am near Punit Nagar Society in the Akota area of Vadodara district. According to officials at the Akota Police Station, the 53-year-old former Baroda batsman was driving his MG Hector SUV when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to intoxication. The SUV crashed into three cars parked outside a house, causing significant damage.
Police said no injuries were reported in the incident, but the vehicles suffered damage. Based on a complaint filed by the owner of the damaged cars, a case was registered against Martin under relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections related to rash and drunk driving.

Arrest and Police Action
Hours after the accident, Jacob Martin was placed under arrest. The police have also confiscated his MG Hector SUV as part of the investigation. Officials confirmed that legal procedures are being followed in accordance with the charges filed.
A Career Marked by Highs and Controversy
Jacob Martin had represented India in 10 ODIs and was also a former captain of the Baroda Ranji Trophy team. However, this is not the first time he has faced legal trouble. In 2011, he was arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with a human trafficking case.
