YouTuber stabbed to death in Bhubaneswar; Commissionerate Police launches manhunt

A young man was allegedly stabbed to death in the GGP Colony area under Mancheswar Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night. The incident occurred at a school playground in Rasulgarh at around 10 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Maharana, a resident of Jagannath Nagar. He was engaged in the business of oxygen gas cylinders in the Palasuni area.

Attack at Playground

According to police sources, Rahul was allegedly attacked by three to four youths who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol. The assailants allegedly stabbed him in the chest, inflicting grievous injuries.

Rahul was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital by his friends. However, doctors declared him dead while he was undergoing treatment.

“Rahul was a good person and was doing business. We are shocked by what has happened to him. I think some miscreants under the influence of alcohol might have committed the crime,” said Karunakar Baliarsingh, a resident of Rasulgarh.

Investigation Underway

Senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, along with Mancheswar police and a special squad, visited the spot and initiated an investigation.

Police said that three people are suspected of being involved in the murder. CCTV footage from the locality is being examined, and statements of eyewitnesses are being recorded as part of the probe.

Investigators suspect that prior enmity or a financial dispute may have led to the crime.

Three Teams Formed

DCP Jagmohan Meena informed that three separate teams have been constituted to trace and apprehend the accused.

“All efforts are being made to arrest the accused at the earliest. As per the primary investigation, three people are involved in the murder. So far, no detentions have been made,” Meena said.

The Commissionerate Police have intensified their search operations to nab the accused at the earliest.
