Youth attacks woman and her two daughters with sword in Ganjam’s Digapahandi

Panic gripped the Digapahandi block of Odisha’s Ganjam district after a youth allegedly entered a house late at night and attacked a woman and her two daughters with a sword in Kandaswara village.

According to preliminary reports, the accused barged into the house during the night and carried out the attack, allegedly over a longstanding personal feud. The sudden violence triggered fear and tension among the residents of the village.

Victims Rushed to Hospital

All three victims sustained serious injuries in the sword attack and were immediately rushed to Berhampur Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources said the injured were later discharged after receiving medical care and have since returned home.

Accused Detained

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused is a resident of a neighbouring village. The youth has been detained and taken into police custody for questioning in connection with the incident.

Police have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact motive behind the crime. While a prior personal dispute is suspected, officials said no concrete details have emerged so far. Investigators are questioning the accused, the victims and local residents as part of the probe.
