A tea stall owner was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants near the Rourkela Railway Station on Friday night, triggering panic and tension in the area for a brief period. The deceased has been identified as Abinash Yadav, who operated a tea stall in the vicinity of the railway station.
According to preliminary reports, Yadav was attacked by unknown assailants armed with a sharp weapon. He sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot before any medical assistance could reach him.
Following the incident, panic gripped the area as a large number of local residents and passersby gathered at the crime scene. The situation remained tense for some time before police personnel intervened and brought the situation under control.
On receiving information, officials from the Plant Site police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination as part of the legal formalities. Police have also intensified security in and around the railway station area to prevent any further untoward incidents.
Sources said the police have formed multiple teams to trace the accused and have even deputed officers outside the state as part of the manhunt. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and questioning local residents to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the murder.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and assured that those involved in the crime would be arrested soon.
